Arrest of Ricardo Márquez Blas for Alleged Sexual Abuse

Ricardo Márquez Blas, a former collaborator of Genaro García Luna and a high-ranking official of the SCJN, was arrested last Tuesday for alleged sexual abuse. The arrest took place as Márquez Blas was leaving the Court, located on Pino Suárez in the Historic Center of Mexico City. He was transferred to the Eastern Preventive Men's Prison.

According to an information card issued by the SCJN, it was reported that Márquez Blas was being investigated following an internal complaint against him. The statement mentioned that all precautionary measures determined by the General Unit of Investigation of Administrative Responsibilities had been complied with from the very first moment they were ordered.

At a previous event, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador mentioned that Norma Piña, president minister of the SCJN, had hired one of García Luna's close collaborators in the Judiciary, without revealing his identity or position at that time. It was later clarified that it was Ricardo Márquez Blas, who had worked in the National Public Security System under García Luna's direction.

On another occasion, López Obrador declared that Márquez Blas would earn more than he did when hired in the Judiciary. The president highlighted that the newly hired individual would receive a salary higher than his and would include benefits such as travel allowances, private medical insurance, and a special savings fund.
